The Altus story

42 years of engineering heritage behind every Altus project.

Altus Solar was founded by alumni of PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore, and built on the engineering foundation of the wider Altus Group — CONFAB PUMPS — which has spent 42 years in precision engineering since 1984. That engineering instinct runs a generation deeper: in 1982, our founder's father commissioned a 2 MW power station at Brown Boveri, now ABB.

Altus Solar itself has spent the last 15 years applying that same engineering discipline to solar — rooftop and ground-mounted plants, battery storage and long-term operations & maintenance — for industry, institutions and homes.

Why solar, why now

Six reasons Altus clients stop worrying about their EB bill.

The engineering is the hard part, and we handle that. Here's the plain case for why the investment pays you back.

  • Lower electricity bills

Generate your own power and cut monthly costs from day one.

  • Energy independence

Less exposure to tariff hikes, outages and grid uncertainty.

  • Higher property value

A commissioned solar system is a documented asset buyers pay for.

  • Real environmental impact

A typical Altus rooftop offsets several tonnes of CO₂ every year.

  • Government approvals, handled for you

Subsidy applications for homes, net-metering and utility clearances for industrial plants — every approval managed end-to-end, whichever segment you're in.

  • 25 years of savings, locked in

Once the system pays back, the electricity is essentially free.

Altus Design Engine

Every wire is sized on purpose.

Panel capacity sets the array output. That number sizes the inverter. Inverter output and its distance from the array set cable gauge and line loss. Earthing, lightning arrestors and fuses are then rated to protect every stage of that chain — not bolted on as an afterthought.

1. Panel capacity sets the array

Total kWp of panels strung together fixes the DC output — every stage after this is sized against that one number.

8.4 kWp array
2. Inverter is matched, not oversized

Inverter capacity is chosen off the panel output — an undersized unit clips generation, an oversized one just costs more.

7.6 kW hybrid inverter
3. Cabling is sized for the run

Conductor gauge is set by line loss and how far the inverter sits from the array and the distribution board — not a default wire size.

Line loss kept ≤2%
4. Earthing, arrestors & fuses

Lightning arrestors and earthing are installed to code, with fuses rated to interrupt short-circuit and overcurrent faults before they reach your wiring.

Questions

Straight answers, clear next steps.

Rooftop solar uses your existing roof space and suits most homes, schools, hospitals and factories with adequate structural capacity. Ground-mounted solar sits on open land and works best for larger industrial loads or where roof space runs out — Precot Mills' 4 MW plant in Pollachi is ground-mounted for exactly this reason. We assess your site and recommend whichever gets you to your energy target faster.

As a rule of thumb, 1 kW of solar needs roughly 70–100 sq ft of usable, shadow-free area. A typical home system (3–8 kW) fits comfortably on most rooftops; industrial rooftop or ground-mounted plants scale up from there. We confirm the exact number after a site visit, since shading, orientation and structural load all affect the final layout.

It varies by scale. Residential systems typically pay back in 4–6 years, commercial rooftop in 3–5 years, and industrial or ground-mounted plants — where usage and savings are highest — often pay back in 3–4 years. After that, the electricity is essentially free for the remaining 20+ years of the system's life.

Yes, entirely. Altus is a one-stop partner — we handle the government paperwork, subsidy applications and net-metering clearances on your behalf, so you don't have to navigate utility processes or documentation yourself.

Yes, most certainly. Solar integrates cleanly with diesel generators and existing captive power setups — the system is designed to prioritise solar generation first and fall back to your existing supply automatically, with no disruption to operations.

You get live visibility into your system's daily performance through our monitoring app, plus dedicated O&M support for the life of the plant. If output ever dips below expectation, our team is alerted and dispatched — often before you'd notice it yourself.

Ready to put your roof — or your land — to work?

A free site assessment takes about forty-five minutes, comes with no pressure, and gets read by the engineer who would actually design your system.
